Metropolitan Engineering, Inc./Shapiro-O’Brien

Founded in 1942 as General Engineering Associates. In 1987, Jerry O’Brien and partners from General Engineering Associates formed Shapiro-O’Brien group. Metropolitan Engineering, Inc. was founded in 1994 by Ronald Zarrilli. The two organizations merged their complementary expertise in October 2003 to provide more comprehensive services to their clients.  The combined experience of the two firms includes design for over 100 buildings, thousands of interior renovations and many engineering solutions.

MEI is a highly respected company among local architects, developers, building owners, city and code officials. We deliver exceptionally responsive mechanical, plumbing and electrical engineering services through highly interactive relationships with our clients in which we assess, plan, design and manage diverse projects.  Our engineers are familiar with considerations specific to each project and are qualified to advise on equipment location, plumbing, fire-protection, power generation and distribution, and HVAC.  We work with each client directly to ensure we satisfy any and all needs that they may have and take great pride in explaining why we make the design decisions that we do.
